Artec 3D, a global leader in 3D scanning technology, today announced the Artec Ray II, a high-precision 3D LiDAR scanner designed for the digitization of large objects and spaces with unprecedented speed and accuracy. This ground-breaking scanner has been developed in collaboration with Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon, combining the expertise and innovation of both industry-leading companies. With its ability to capture a full dome in 1.7 mins, and at a 3D point accuracy of 1.9 mm from 10 meters, the Artec Ray II is ideal for creating digital twins of large-scale objects and complex scenes.
Data from the Artec Ray II can be seamlessly combined in Artec Studio software with data from other Artec 3D scanners, such as the wireless intuitive handheld Artec Leo, which can provide highly detailed scans of selected areas of large objects, thus providing truly comprehensive 3D models.
Providing a unique market proposition, the Ray II when paired with Artec Leo is ideal for creating digital twins of objects, from wind turbines to ship propellers, from airplanes to bridges to factory floors, and even complex forensic scenes and archaeological sites. It takes 3D data capture up to the next level, offering metrology-grade precision with an angular accuracy of 18” (0.87 mm @10m) and a range accuracy of 1.0 mm + 10 ppm.
“Artec 3D is committed to constantly innovating and expanding its suite of 3D scanning solutions, and our collaboration with Leica Geosystems in developing the Artec Ray II embodies this commitment,” said Art Yukhin, President and CEO of Artec 3D. “We can now offer a unique combination of two wireless, fast-capture scanners: one long-range, and one handheld. This broadens the possibilities of rapidly capturing high-accuracy data for inspection, reverse engineering, forensics, and creating true-to-life digital twins.”
In addition to its remarkable scanning speed, the Artec Ray II boasts an array of features designed to enhance the scanning experience and improve the quality of results. The scanner is equipped with automated targetless field registration, real-time scan alignment, and a double-scan feature for the automatic deletion of moving objects. With its touchscreen and mobile device interface, and rain and dust protection (IP54), the Artec Ray II is a robust, user-friendly solution, ready for both indoor and outdoor use.
To ensure uninterrupted scanning sessions, the Artec Ray II comes with four batteries and a charger. The scanner operates with two batteries at a time, which can be hot-swapped with the other two without powering off.
