SOLIDWORKS World 2018 has come and gone…and what an event it was! Los Angeles proved to be a gracious host – with warm temperatures and sunny days. Just like in years past, there was so much to see, learn and experience during our four days at SOLIDWORKS World.
SOLIDWORKS World provided attendees with a unique opportunity to get a glimpse of the future…through the power of engineering, science and technology. Being at the event is like finding a secret door that opens up to what our world will look like in the years to come, from manufacturing to transportation, entertainment to aerospace. There really is no end to what’s possible through the powerful platform of SOLIDWORKS…on our planet and beyond.
The Exhibit Hall provided ample opportunities to visit with forward-thinking companies with cutting edge ideas and products. There were many exciting booths filled with the latest and greatest technology, including a huge presence of 3D printing options that can blow your mind. The ability to meet and engage with various companies was astounding and inspiring.
Each day at the General Session, SOLIDWORKS lined up amazing keynote speakers encouraging everyone to open their minds and expand their horizons. Each keynote speaker was both inspiring and thought-provoking in their own unique ways. It was truly an eclectic mix of creative thinkers and innovators from various industries and studies.
In addition to the keynote speakers, SOLIDWORKS brought in so many cool customer stories that really bring the capabilities of SOLIDWORKS to real life by demonstrating how these people have solved problems and overcome challenges with the power of SOLIDWORKS. From driving race cars even faster, to helping overcome our daily commute, to building a high-powered but lightweight jet board, to reducing trans-Atlantic flight time by half, and even helping the disabled walk again…there was no end to what’s possible when you connect the right people and ideas with the best software solutions for their needs.
Attendees were also introduced to new features and applications within the SOLIDWORKS product line…one standout being the SOLIDWORKS Marketplace, which can easily be described as the Amazon of the manufacturing world. Marketplace consists of Marketplace Make and Marketplace Part Supply. Marketplace Make is the seamless way to get your parts made and collaborate with leading digital manufacturers worldwide across all manufacturing processes: 3D Printing, CNC Machining, Injection Molding, Sheet Metal and more. Marketplace Part Supply is a comprehensive and intelligent online 3D components catalog service. Both services provide customers with what they need faster, and with less hassle.

Overall, SOLIDWORKS World provided us with a unique and amazing opportunity to engage with the entire SOLIDWORKS community in a personal way with real, authentic interaction with people from all over the US and the world. It is always great meeting people with similar interests and challenges in their own engineering environments and people who also “nerd out” for everything that SOLIDWORKS has to offer!
