Global 3D scanning leader Artec 3D has welcomed students from the prestigious Offenburg University of Applied Sciences to its state-of-the-art production facility in Luxembourg.
During their visit, these budding engineers were shown around the factory where Artec Leo, the world’s first wireless, AI-powered 3D scanner, is made. After a behind-the-scenes tour of the ISO-certified cleanroom in which the device is assembled, they were treated to a presentation by Artec 3D Co-founder Sergey Sukhovey, who outlined professional 3D scanning’s potential.
Once better acquainted with the company, they were given a Leo demo – and within minutes, the students found they were able to capture ultra-realistic 3D models. In fact, the device is so easy to use, with its click-to-scan functionality making it just like capturing with a smartphone, they were quickly able to digitize each other and make incredibly lifelike virtual avatars.
The successful visit marks the third occasion in which Professor Stefan Junk has taken his promising pupils to see Artec 3D’s advanced manufacturing facility. As an expert in reverse engineering & rapid prototyping, Stefan is the perfect mentor for emerging engineers.
Artec 3D continues to invite educators and curious minds to tour its facilities and work together on initiatives that push the technology forward, both in Luxembourg and abroad.
Just last month, a delegation traveled from Japan to explore the company’s facilities and come up with new healthcare applications for its products. Other visits have proven similarly fruitful, with STEM students getting first-hand experience with cutting-edge 3D technology.
As well as training the next generation of engineers in person, Artec 3D offers online courses via Artec Academy and educational packages, which give a discount to teachers and students.
